A teaser of the upcoming Audi A9 concept has been released ahead of the concept’s debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month. The concept is expected to take the shape of a large four-door coupe that will not only preview a new Audi flagship, but may also preview a new design language.
The A9 concept was designed by Audi’s new chief designer Marc Lichte. In an interview with Auto&Design, Lichte said, “With this concept Audi is putting increasing emphasis on its sporting dimension, a factor that characterizes the whole next generation of cars.”

The concept will also have an evolution of the single-frame grille. “This new course design promises a sculptural design in the treatment of volumes and surfaces, but obtained with simple, clean lines, capable of displaying the concept of performance “four”, exclusive of Audi,” Lichte stated.
A production version of the A9 is rumored to debut sometime around 2017 and it will share its platform with the next-generation A8 that is coming in 2016.
The A9 concept will debut when the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show kicks off on November 18.
