Last summer Acura unveiled the Type S concept, which is a preview of the next-generation Acura TLX. The redesigned Acura TLX is slated to arrive for the 2021 model year and although Acura has been quiet with the juicy details, Car and Driver is reporting on some of the fun stuff that we’ll see with the 2021 TLX.

For starters the 2021 Acura TLX is reportedly going to switch to a new platform that will give the TLX better handling than the current generation. The standard TLX will be powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the Honda Accord. The four-cylinder will be mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive will be optional.

The more exciting option is the new TLX Type S, which will be powered by a new turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that will have a big horsepower increase over the current 290-hp 3.5-liter V-6.

The standard TLX is slated to arrive first, which will then be followed by the TLX Type S.
