Volkswagen has announced the pricing for the 2027 Atlas, which starts at $43,135, which includes the $1,525 destination fee.
Volkswagen’s redesign is meant to build on what worked with the predecessor. There is a more premium feel to the cabin and some new connectivity and driver aids, but it still accommodates seven passengers as before.
One of the most notable changes is inside. On SE models the dashboard has been reworked for a cleaner look and is dominated by a 12.9-inch infotainment screen. Opt for the SE with Technology and you get a 15-inch version. All around, every Atlas is fitted with a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro.
Real wood trim and better materials have been put to use in the cabin. A gear selector on the steering column has been added to open up the center console for more storage; there are now dual wireless charging pads so two phones can be topped off at once. Drivers can also make use of the new Driver Experience Dial to set the mood in the cabin with “Atmospheres” that pair ambient lighting and audio, or to control drive modes and volume. Trim level will determine whether one has access to 10 or 30 colors of ambient lighting.

You do not have to move up the line to be well equipped; the base Atlas SE is no slouch. It comes with leatherette surfaces, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated wheel, three-zone climate control and a power liftgate. There are also LED headlights with an Adaptive Front-lighting System, paddle shifters, seven USB-C ports and rear window sunshades. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included as well.
Volkswagen is also including its myVW+ In-Vehicle Premium package as part of the deal. This brings Wi-Fi hotspot, streaming for audio and podcasts, Google navigation and generative AI voice control. While parked there is AirConsole gaming, and connected garage functionality is part of the bundle.
For those wanting a sportier look, the SEL and SEL Premium R-Line trims have unique front and rear fascias, body-color side sills and larger wheels to go with the R-Line badging.
The SEL R-Line cabin is appointed with Varenna leather, a head-up display and a panoramic sunroof, plus memory and ventilation for the second row. Go to the SEL Premium R-Line and you will find Nappa leather, 21-inch wheels, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon system, front-seat massage and the Park Assist Plus. An Area View camera is also in tow.
Properly equipped, the SE with Technology and higher trims can handle 5,000 pounds of towing. The standard SE is rated for 2,000. As for add-ons, a panoramic sunroof is $1,200 on the SE with Technology, and second-row captain’s chairs can be had for $695 on select trims.
Safety has been given some attention for 2027. The latest IQ.DRIVE suite is standard across the board, featuring Travel Assist with lane changes initiated by the driver and Light Assist for the high beams. There is even an Emergency Assist to pull the car over in the event of a medical issue. A front center airbag has been added to bring the total to seven.
