Audi has unveiled the 2027 Q7, the third generation of its three-row SUV. With a fresh interior, more power and some serious tech upgrades, it is set to make its mark in the crowded luxury SUV market. The high-performance SQ7 is also in the mix, touting best-in-class acceleration and close to 600 horsepower.

The Q7 is no stranger to success; for over 20 years it has been Audi’s largest SUV, but that’s about to change with the introduction of the new Q9.

What you will find under the hood is the story of the new Q7. Audi has done away with the old four-cylinder and V6 options. In their place is a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 putting out 429 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. According to Audi, the Q7 can accelerate from 0-60 in 4.8 seconds.

If you want to push things further, the 2027 SQ7 is equipped with a revised 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 for 591 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. That allows the SQ7 to hit 60 mph in a mere 3.7 seconds. An eight-speed auto and quattro AWD are standard on both, though the SQ7 gets an electronically controlled rear differential. And when properly outfitted, either one can tow 7,700 pounds.

Practicality is still a priority. You get standard room for seven across three rows, but for the first time there is an option for second-row captain’s chairs if you prefer a six-passenger setup.

Cargo numbers are as competitive as ever: 15.1 cubic feet behind the third row, 43.9 behind the second, or 78.1 with everything folded down.

Audi has given the cabin a thorough going-over with open-pore wood, premium materials and a reworked center console with dual Qi2 pads so two phones can charge at once. You can have your front seats ventilated and massaged while listening to a Bang & Olufsen 4D system, all under a panoramic glass roof with switchable transparency. There is no need for a conventional sunshade here; the polymer-dispersed liquid crystal lets you go from opaque to transparent at will.

For the first time in America, the Q7 is available with Digital Matrix LED headlights and adaptive driving beam tech. The micro-LEDs mean better visibility at night with less glare for those around you. Out back, you can spec digital OLED taillights with communication lighting to warn others of hazards.

Then there is the turn signal projection system, an industry first. At night the Q7 will project its signals onto the pavement beside it so cyclists and pedestrians can see you coming when you make a lane change.

The inside of the Q7 now sports Audi’s Digital Stage with a curved OLED and a standard display for the front passenger. The infotainment has been linked to the Audi Application Store and the AI voice assistant has been given ChatGPT capabilities for a more natural exchange.

Most trims can be had with a factory 4K dashcam that will automatically clip any footage in the event of an accident. Parking is made easier with a reverse assist for tight spots and trained parking that lets the SUV memorize your maneuvers.

You will know it is a Q7, but the third gen has a more commanding look thanks to a larger Singleframe grille, wider wheel arches and a stiffer shoulder line. Wheel sizes run from 20 to 23 inches depending on how you option it.

Production is underway at the Bratislava plant and the Q7 and SQ7 should be in U.S. showrooms by the fourth quarter of 2026. We will have to wait for pricing closer to launch.
