Toyota has unveiled the 2027 GR86, which has received some updates, which should make it even more fun to drive.

On the technical side, Toyota’s engineers have fine-tuned how torque from the boxer engine is delivered in response to the throttle for a more linear and smooth accelerator feel. If you prefer the manual, the transmission has been revised; by widening the shifter interlock between fourth and fifth gear for a smoother shift feel.
Under the hood you will find the same naturally aspirated 2.4-liter boxer four making 228 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Whether you go for the base or Premium trim, there is a choice of a six-speed automatic or manual. Toyota puts the 0-60 time for the manual at 6.1 seconds.

A new exterior color, Thunder, has been added to the color options. Inside, a new Cockpit Red option is available, mixing black Ultrasuede with red leather. Premium trims get a new cast iron black finish on the trim pieces.
Safety has been upped a notch as well. The stereo camera’s recognition range has been almost doubled for better detection with adaptive cruise control, and a monocular camera has been put in place to spot objects at intersections.

For those who want to push the limits, the Performance Package is back. You get Brembo brakes and SACHS dampers, along with red-painted calipers.
The 2027 Toyota GR86 is slated to arrive this summer.
