2023 Toyota Prius Prime arrives with 50 percent more EV range

The last generation Toyota Prius Prime plug-in hybrid had styling that differed a bit from the standard Prius, but that’s changed with the arrival of the 2023 Prius. The more stylish 2023 Prius and Prius Prime look nearly identical, which is a good thing, since this is the best looking Prius yet.

Compared to the previous generation Prius Prime, the 2023 Prius is 2-inches lower, 1-inch wider, 1-inch longer , and has a hip point that’s almost 1-inch lower. This all translates into a sportier looking Prius than before.

Under the hood there’s the 5th generation hybrid powertrain with a 2.0L engine, an electric motor and a new lithium-ion battery, located underneath the rear seat. Toyota says that the 2023 Prius Prime has a 50 percent longer electric driving range, and thanks to almost an additional 100 horsepower, it can accelerate from 0-60 in 6.6 seconds.

The 2023 Prius Prime will be available in three trims: SE, XSE or XSE Premium. Toyota says that the pricing and on sale date for the 2023 Prius Prime will be announced in the first half of 2023.
