Chevy has unveiled the next-generation 2023 Colorado midsize pickup truck. In addition to the new styling inside and out, the 2023 Colorado switches to only turbocharged four-cylinder engines and there’s the Trail Boss and off-road ready ZR2 trim level.

Under the hood the former V6 and naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engines have been deleted. Now the Colorado is powered by a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder, which comes in three versions. The base engine has 237 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque. If you want more power, there’s the same engine that powers the Silverado, which has 310 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque in the Turbo Plus version. There’s also a high-output version that has 310 hp and 430 lb-ft., which is only available in the Colorado ZR2. All three versions of the four-cylinder engine are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

You’ll also notice that Chevy hasn’t made any announcements about a diesel for the new Colorado.

On the outside the 2023 Colorado features more expressive styling, although its shape hasn’t changed much. The new Colorado has a similar footprint as well, since it’s just 0.3-inch longer, but its wheelbase has been stretched 3.1-inches. Chevy moved the front axle forward to reduce the front overhang.

The 2023 Chevy Colorado lineup includes Work Truck (WT), LT, Z71, ZR2 and the Trail Boss models. Production of the 2023 Colorado is slated to begin in the first half of 2023.
