The 2022 Kia Carnival is a stylish minivan with crossover vibes. If you have been thinking about getting a Carnival, you now have one more reason – safety. The 2022 Kia Carnival has received the Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS).

The Carnival earned ‘good’ ratings in all six IIHS crashworthiness tests, including the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests. It’s front crash prevention systems were also rated as ‘superior,” since they helped avoid collisions at 12 mph and 25 mph.

The only caveat here is that only the Carnival built after March 2021 and equipped with the LED projector headlights has received the Top Safety Pick rating. The standard LED reflector headlights were rated as “poor,” while the LED projector headlights on the SX Prestige trim level were rated as “good.”

The Carnival also missed out on the higher Top Safety Pick+ rating, which its rivals, the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna have both received.
