The 2022 Mazda MX-30 EV is going to arrive in the US in October, in California and now Mazda has announced the pricing and all the details about its new electric car. The 2022 MX-30 starts at $34,645, including destination and before any state or federal tax incentives are applied.

California will be the first state to get the MX-30. It’s powered by a 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 143 horsepower electric motor that powers the front wheels. The disappointing news is that the MX-30 only has a 100 mile driving range, which pales in comparison to other entry-level EVs that have driving ranges over 200 miles.

Using a DC Fast Charger, the battery can be recharged up to 80% in 36 minutes. It takes 2 hours and 50 minutes using a 240-volt charger and 13 hours and 40 minutes with a 120-volt outlet.

Inside the MX-30 comes standard with an 8.8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, a seven-inch digital gauge display, and a moonroof. On the safety front, it comes standard with adaptive cruise control, a blind spot monitor, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and lane keep assist.

The available Premium Plus package adds Blind Spot Assist, which helps keep the vehicle in its own lane if the driver attempts to change lanes when another vehicle is in the blind spot. Front Cross Traffic Alert also alerts the driver when the front sensors detect a vehicle approaching from the left or right. The package also adds a Bose 12-speaker audio system, heated steering wheel, 360 degree view monitor, Advanced Keyless Entry and SiriusXM satellite radio. The MX-30 with Premium Package starts at $37,655.

In California the MX-30 is eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax incentive, plus California is currently giving EV buyers a $2,000 cash rebate. That means that the price of the MX-30 will effectively drop to about $25k.

Mazda says that it will introduce three fully electric vehicles by 2025, in addition to five plug-in hybrid vehicles.
