BMW already has the Alpina B7 sedan and XB7 SUV, but now it’s expanding its Alpina lineup with the 2022 Alpina B8 Gran Coupe.
The B8 Gran Coupe is based on the 8 Series Gran Coupe. Under the hood it’s powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 that generates 612 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The V8 sends its power to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission and the xDrive all-wheel drive system.
Other performance upgrades include a stainless-steel sport exhaust system with active flaps, a limited-slip rear differential and the transmission has also been tweaked. Eibach springs, reinforced sway bars and stiffer support mounts also improve the B8’s suspension. Lastly rear-wheel steering is standard.
The B8 Gran Coupe can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 201 mph. It’s slightly slower than the M8, but it has an 11 mph faster top speed.
On the outside the B8 gets subtle styling updates, like new air intakes, a unique front splitter, a new rear diffuser with four exhaust tips and a lip spoiler. It also rides on large 21-inch wheels. Inside there are some small changes, like a unique digital gauge cluster and special wood trim.
The 2022 BMW Alpina B8 Gran Coupe will arrive this spring with the pricing starting at $140,895, including destination.
