We’re supposed to see the 2021 Volkswagen Golf R this summer when it debuts at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, but a photo of what appears to be the next-generation Golf R has been posted on Instagram.

We’ve seen several leaked tidbits about the high-performance versions of the eighth-generation Golf, which includes the GTI and Golf R. This latest tidbit comes to us from cochespias on Instagram, which shows the rear of the 2021 Golf R on the streets in Spain.

From what we can see here the next-generation Golf R will continue the understated theme, since it doesn’t have too many styling changes compared to the standard Golf. What we do see here is a nice quad exhaust. There’s a good chance that the production version will look a bit more aggressive than the prototype we see here, since it looks more toned down than the even the new GTI, which has also leaked.

Under the hood it’s rumored the 2021 Golf R may be powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder with a nice 329 horsepower.
