Toyota already sells a sedan version of the Mazda2 as the Yaris sedan in the US, so when Toyota announced some big changes for the Yaris hatchback, it was all but assumed that we’d be getting a reabadged Mazda2. Now Toyota has confirmed it with the debut of the 2020 Toyota Yaris hatchback.

The 2020 Toyota Yaris hatchback is going to debut later this month at the New York Auto Show. It will be offered in LE and XLE trim levels. Under the hood you’ll find a 1.5L four-cylinder engine with 106 horsepower. Sadly the four-cylinder will only be available with a six-speed automatic.

The XLE trim level adds leatherette seating surfaces, automatic climate control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic LED headlamps, and a leather-trimmed steering wheel, shift knob and parking brake handle.
