Chevy has announced that the 2019 Corvette Grand Sport will serve as the pace car for the 2019 Indianapolis 500 on May 26. This year marks the 16th time a Corvette has served as the Pace Car, starting in 1978.

The 2019 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport pace car is painted in Long Beach Red Metallic Tintcoat with Racing Blade Silver dual stripes. Under the hood it’s powered by the LT1 6.2-liter V-8 engine with 460 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque that’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

It also features a performance suspension with Magnetic Ride Control, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, Grand Sport aluminum wheels, the Carbon Flash painted Carbon Fiber Ground Effects Package and Competition Sport bucket seats.
