It was just earlier this year that Lincoln announced the new Aviator SUV and now it’s taken the wraps off the 2020 Aviator at the LA Auto Show. The 2020 Aviator not only arrives as one of the most stylish Lincoln SUVs, but it also arrives with a new 450-hp plug-in hybrid powertrain.
If you loved the Aviator prototype, you won’t be disappointed with the production version, since the 2020 Lincoln Aviator is nearly identical. The three-row Aviator seeks to elevate the brand’s design language. Lincoln has also announced that the Aviator will be available globally.
The 2020 Aviator will come standard with a twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 with 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft. of torque that’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. If you want a greener option, the Aviator Grand Touring features a plug-in hybrid powertrain that generates 450-hp and 600 lb-ft. of torque.
Lincoln hasn’t announced how far the Aviator Grand Touring can travel in EV mode, but it does offer to modes that let you decide how you want to use the electric energy: Pure EV and Preserve EV. The Aviator also comes with five other driving modes: Normal, Conserve, Excite, Slippery and Deep Conditions.
Inside the Aviator is packed with luxury features, like massaging seats, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a head-up display. The suspension also automatically lowers the Aviator to “greet” the driver.
It hasn’t been announced when the 2020 Aviator will be available or how much it will cost.
