Hyundai has unveiled the 2020 Accent and although there aren’t any styling changes, there’s some big updates under the hood. The 2020 Accent has received a new 1.6 four-cylinder engine and a Smartstream Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).

The new four-cylinder engine generates 120 horsepower and 113 lb.-ft. of torque, which is actually 10 horsepower and 9 lb-ft. less than the outgoing engine. The 1.6L is still available with a six-speed manual transmission, but the old six-speed automatic has been replaced by Hyundai’s version of a CVT.

2020 Hyundai Accent

The powertrain updates improve the Accent’s fuel economy rating to up to 33 mpg city, 41 highway, compared to 28 city, 38 highway with the old engine and transmission.

The 2020 Hyundai Accent will be offered in SE, SEL, and Limited trim levels. The 2020 Accent starts at $16,125.
