A few days ago Ford unveiled the all-new 2020 Ford Explorer and now it’s unveiled the 2020 Explorer ST and Hybrid models at the Detroit Auto Show.
The 2020 Ford Explorer ST replaces the previous Explorer Sport as the most powerful model in the Explorer family. The Explorer ST is powered by 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine with 400 horsepower and 415 lb.-ft. of torque that’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Ford hasn’t announced how fast the Explorer ST can reach 60 mph, but it does have a 143 mph top speed.
The 2020 Explorer ST is also available with an ST Street Pack and an ST Track Pack. Both packages add 21-inch aluminum wheels with upgraded braking systems and red-painted brake calipers with stainless steel pistons.
The 2020 Explorer Hybrid is powered by a 3.3-liter hybrid powertrain with a combined 318 horsepower. Ford hasn’t announced the fuel economy specs for the Explorer Hybrid, but it will have a driving range over 500 miles.
If you missed last week’s news, the 2020 Ford Explorer is new from the ground up and is based on a new rear-wheel drive platform. It will be available in XLT, Limited, Limited Hybrid, ST and Platinum models when it arrives this summer.
