Subaru has unveiled the all-new 2019 Subaru Forester, which is the fifth-generation of Subaru’s popular crossover. If you were expecting a huge departure for the 2019 Forester, you’ll be disappointed, but since it is one of Subaru’s best selling models, it only makes sense that Subaru plays it safe.
The 2019 Forester does borrow some styling cues from the larger Ascent crossover. Subaru calls the Forester’s new design more rugged than before, while it also showcases the brand’s new design language. New shoulder lines that follow around the pillars do give the Forester a stronger presence than before. At the front new LED headlights flank SUbaru’s hexagonal grille.
With the new design, the 2019 Forester now has a longer wheelbase from 103.-inches to 105.1, which gives the interior more rear legroom. There’s also more headroom, hip and shoulder room.
All 2019 Forester models are powered by a 2.5L four-cylinder boxer engine that generates 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft. of torque, which is up from 170 horsepower and 174 lb-ft. The four-cylinder is mated to a CVT and the 2019 Forester is estimated to get up to 33 mpg on the highway. As always, the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system is standard.
The 2019 Subaru Forester will arrive later this year and will be available in standard, Premium, Limited, Touring and Sport trim levels.
