Now that the new year is here, it’s time to get ready for all the debuts this month at the Detroit Auto Show. One of the more highly anticipated debuts is the all-new 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class, which represents the first redo ever for the iconic SUV. Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the covers will come off the 2019 G-Class on January 15.
Mercedes-Benz has already released official photos of the interior of the new G-Class, but it’s now followed that up with a quick teaser video. The video doesn’t reveal much about the exterior design of the 2019 G-Class, but according to Mercedes-Benz, “Whether on- or off-road, the all-terrain vehicle impresses under all conditions with its performance, state-of-the-art assistance systems for safety and comfort, superb handling and a reinterpretation of its iconic design.”
G-Class fans won’t have to worry that the next G-Class will stray to far from the original, since it will retain the same boxy shape, but it will get some more modern hardware underneath, like an independent front suspension and updated steering system. We still don’t know what will power the new G-Class, but it’s safe to assume that a 4.0L V8 will be offered.
