The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has announced that the all-new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe has received its highest rating – Top Safety Pick+ when it’s equipped with the available LED headlights.

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe

To earn the Top Safety Pick rating, a vehicle must have good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests, as well as a front crash prevention system that earns an advanced or superior rating and acceptable- or good-rated headlights. To get the higher Top Safety Pick+ rating, the vehicle must also receive an acceptable or good rating in the passenger-side small overlap front test, and the headlights must be rated as good.

The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe earned a good rating in the passenger-side small overlap test and its standard front crash prevention system was rated as superior. It’s worth noting that only the 2019 Santa Fe Limited and Ultimate trims levels received the highest possible rating, since they both come with LED headlights. Santa Fe models with the standard halogen headlights only earned a marginal rating.
