The compact crossover segment is so hot right now, which means that nearly every automaker is throwing their hat in the ring. Cadillac is now ready to enter the ring with its own model, the 2019 Cadillac XT4. It’s small footprint, large dose of style and lower starting price will hopefully bring younger buyers into the Cadillac showroom, or at least Cadillac hopes it will.
On the outside the 2019 Cadillac XT4 looks a lot like its bigger brother, the XT5. Cadillac calls its lines simple and sculpted and its more aggressive appearance are meant to command a presence. All models feature standard LED lighting at the front and rear. The XT4’s face stands out with its LED-illuminated light blade daytime running lights. At the rear, the XT4’s taillights have a unique L shape.
Inside there’s room for five and according to Cadillac the XT4’s rear legroom will lead the compact segment. There’s also a good amount of cargo space that can be expanded up to 48.9 cubic feet of space with the rear seat folded. The XT4 is also filled with tech, like an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, and several USB ports. It also offers Surround Vision and the rear camera mirror to make it easier to navigate.
Under the hood the 2019 XT4 will be powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder with 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. The four-cylinder is mated to a standard nine-speed automatic transmission and Cadillac estimates a 30 mpg highway rating. A twin-clutch all-wheel drive system is available. The XT4 is also available with an Active Sport Suspension with Continuous Damping Control. The XT4 is also the first Cadillac to get electro-hydraulic braking assist.
The 2019 Cadillac XT4 will be offered with seven interior environments and three trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport. Pricing starts at $35,790 and the XT4 will arrive this fall.
