BMW recently let loose a batch of photos that showed off the camouflaged 2019 BMW Z4 roadster, but the world moves fast and now we have a closer look at the new Z4 thanks to some leaked patent photos. This batch of patent photos reveals that the 2019 BMW Z4 will stay pretty close to the concept version, which debuted last year.

Autoweek.nl managed to grab these photos, which provide our clearest look yet at the all-new Z4. The 2019 BMW Z4 retains the classic roadster proportions with a long hood and short rear deck. The big change is that the 2019 BMW Z4 will ditch the complicated and heavy folding top from the current model, for a lighter fabric roof.

BMW recently let out a few more details about the new Z4, including the range topping Z4 M40i with its twin-turbocharged 3.0L inline six-cylinder engine. BMW did not reveal how much power the M40i will have, but some reports claim that it have 360 horsepower and 380 horsepower.

Last week Magna Steyr also revealed that it will start producing the new Z4 at its plant in Austria by the end of 2018.
