BMW has unveiled the ultimate M2 – the 2019 BMW M2 Competition. To kick things off the M2 Competition is a more track ready, tire burning M2 that’s powered by the S55 twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine from the BMW M3 and M4.

The M2 Competition’s 6-cylinder delivers 405 hp between 5,230 and 7,000 rpm and 406 lb-ft. of torque is ready between 2,350 rpm and 5,230 rpm. That’s 40 more horsepower and 63 more lb-ft. than the standard M2. The M2 Competition can be equipped with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. With the DCT the M2 Competition can reach 60 mph in 4.0 seconds, while the manual is a tad slower at 4.2 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph, but the M Driver’s Package raises the top speed to 174 mph.

Other goodies include a dual exhaust system with electronic flap control that provides the distinctive M sound and the CFRP high-precision strut from the BMW M3 and M4. The electromechanical power steering, the Active M Differential and the Dynamic Steering Control system have all been enhanced. There are also larger disc brakes and the Dynamic Stability Control has been completely recalibrated.

Inside the BMW M2 Competition is equipped with selector switches in the center console that allow instant control of settings for the engine, steering and Drivelogic functions, if M DCT is available. The various configurations can be combined in whichever way the driver prefers and can be stored for easy access using the M1 and M2 buttons on the steering wheel.

The 2019 M2 Competition also gets new M Sport seats with a bucket-style shape that borrows heavily from motorsport and provides drivers with optimized support, while the headrests are integrated into the seat back rest. The backrest also features an illuminated M2 logo. The black leather upholstery boasts design perforations in the seat and backrest, available in either blue or orange.

There are two new optional paint colors: Hockenheim Silver and Sunset Orange Metallic.

BMW has not announced the pricing for the 2019 BMW M2 Competition, but it will arrive this summer.
