With Mercedes-Benz getting ready to battle the BMW X6 “crossover coupe” with a production version of the Concept Coupe SUV, its only a matter of time until other automakers jump on the bandwagon. Audi is reportedly also preparing a crossover coupe and now its being reported that Porsche is working on one as well.
According to the latest reports, a Cayenne Coupe is in the design phase and will be positioned as a sportier alternative to the Cayenne. Just like how the X6 is the sportier version of the BMW X5. If the reports are true, the Cayenne Coupe will be based on the same MLB platform as the third-generation Cayenne and could arrive around 2018.

What’s interesting is that Porsche has been thinking about adding a sportier model to the Cayenne lineup for some time, but due to production constraints, a production version hasn’t happened. Porsche is expected to expand its Leipzig plant for the new Cayenne in 2017, which will leave some room for a Cayenne Coupe.
