2018 MINI John Cooper Works Countryman is the most powerful MINI yet

MINI has unveiled the John Cooper Works version of the all-new Countryman crossover, which now holds the title as the most powerful MINI yet with its 228 horsepower engine.

Set to debut in April at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show, the 2018 John Cooper Works Countryman is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder that generates 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. The four-cylinder can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive is standard. The John Cooper Works Countryman can reach 60 mph in 6.2 seconds, 0.8 seconds faster than the Cooper S Countryman ALL4, with a top speed of 145 mph.

The sport-tuned suspension features a single-joint spring strut axle at the front and a multilink rear axle. Plus an optional sports suspension tightens things up further. The sports brake system was designed in collaboration with Brembo with 4-piston calipers at the front.

On the outside the John Cooper Works Countryman features a unique aerodynamic kit with large air intakes in the front. While inside there are sports seats with integrated headrests, a JCW steering wheel and JCW gear or selector lever.
