The new 2.0L four-cylinder features twin-scroll turbochargers, a belt-driven 48 V starter-alternator and an electric 48 V water pump. The 48-volt mild-hybrid system supports the four-cylinder engine in the engine speed range up to 2500 rpm with additional output of up to 13 horsepower and 110 lb-ft. of torque from the electric motor. The mild-hybrid system also allows the engine to switch-off when you’re coasting and it recuperates up to 12 kW when braking.

The E350 Coupe can reach 62 mph in 5.9 seconds, while the E350 Cabriolet takes slightly longer at 6.1 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz hasn’t announced when the new 2.0L engine will be available in the United States.
