Hyundai has unveiled the updated 2018 Hyundai Sonata at the New York Auto Show. The midsize sedan segment is highly competitive and with the new more aggressive Toyota Camry on the horizon, Hyundai has used this latest update to give the 2018 Sonata much bolder styling.
The 2018 Sonata gets completely redesigned front and rear styling. The front is now dominated by a new “cascading grill,” while the rear is highlighted by new slimmer taillights. The Sonata’s new face also gets new LED daytime running lights and LED headlights with dynamic bending capability. The exterior is finished off with new wheel designs. Inside, the center stack and instrument panel have been redesigned with new gauges, piano key buttons and a new steering wheel.
There are some significant updates under the skin too, with an updated rear suspension that uses thicker trailing arms, torsion bar stiffness within the steering system has been increased by 12 percent and the 2.0L turbo engine now has an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Lastly the Hyundai’s Blue Link now talks to Amazon Echo, allowing you to control your car inside your home, or wherever the Amazon device is located.
“It’s all about making an impact,” said Chris Chapman, chief designer, Hyundai North American Design Center. “We wanted to deliver an exciting expressive car to our customers and show the world how passionate Hyundai is about design and craftsmanship. The objective was to make an impact, this design provides the visual excitement and unique identity our customers associate with Sonata.”
