The fun Kia Soul has been one of Kia’s best-selling models for years. Its combination of youthful styling, its the crossover-like driving position and great value, plus the fun hamster marketing have put it at the top of many buyers’ lists. The last time that I tested the Soul, I loved almost everything about it, but wished it had one thing – more hamsters under the hood. The Soul needed more power and now Kia has answered that with the addition of the new Soul Turbo, yup a turbocharged Soul is finally available. Here are five reasons why the 2017 Kia Soul Turbo should or shouldn’t be on your list:

2Soul vs Juke

In the small crossover segment, there are countless options that range from the plebeian Honda HR-V, to the off-road hungry Jeep Renegade and the new Toyota CH-R. The Nissan Juke is an easy rival to the Soul Turbo, since it also has a bit more sport injected in the equation. On paper they are both powered by small turbocharged 1.6L four-cylinder engines and if funky styling is your thing, both models definitely bring that to the table. The Soul does have a bit more power 201 vs 188 and thanks to its boxier shape, the Soul has 24.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the back seat up, compared to only 10.5 cubic feet in the Juke.
