Infiniti is taking its model lineup down a size with the introduction of the 2017 Q30 compact hatchback, which is debuting this week at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Infiniti is taking its model lineup down a size with the introduction of the 2017 Q30 compact hatchback, which is debuting this week at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Two years ago Infiniti previewed the Q30 in concept form, which has mostly made the transition to the production version.
Even though the Infiniti Q30 is essentially a compact hatchback, it eschews traditional hatchback styling for a look that is a little closer to a crossover. The long, low-slung roofline also is more coupe-like than a traditional hatchback. Under the skin, the Q30 is based on the same platform as the Mercedes-Benz A-Class.

The Q30 is powered by a range of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. The gasoline units generate from 120 horsepower to 154 horsepower, while the diesel engines generate between 107 and 168 horsepower. The Q30 Premium and Q30 Sport models are powered by a more powerful 2.0L engine that generates 208 horsepower. The 2.0L engine will be the only engine offered in the U.S. Front-wheel-drive is standard, but all-wheel-drive is available.
Soon after the Q30 launches, Infiniti is going to introduce a Q30-based crossover called the QX30. Both models will arrive in the U.S. in the second quarter of 2016.
