The i5 is expected to arrive by the 2017 model year and will build upon the i3 with larger rear doors and possibly a 200-mile driving range.
The BMW i5 is reportedly going to be the third model in BMW’s new “i” green vehicle range. The i5 is expected to arrive by the 2017 model year and will build upon the i3 with larger rear doors and possibly a 200-mile driving range.
The i5 is expected to share a lot of its parts with the smaller i3, but will likely be a bit more conventionally styled with regular front-hinged rear doors to make it easier for rear passengers to get in and out. The i5’s interior could also be a bit more conservative than the i3, but it will have more room for up to five passengers and all their stuff.

The i5 will be powered by an electric motor that will likely have 170 horsepower, while a 1.5L three-cylinder range extender will also be offered.
The BMW i5 may arrive sometime in 2016 with a starting price around $50k, while the range extender option will be priced closer to $60k.
