The new 2.5L turbocharged engine is based on the naturally-aspirated 2.5L four-cylinder that powers the Mazda6. The 2.5L generates 250 horsepower (227 with 87-octane) and 310 lb-ft. of torque. Mazda hasn’t released the fuel economy stats, but estimates that it will be around 20 percent more fuel efficient than the outgoing V6. The four-cylinder is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and i-Activ all-wheel drive is available.
