Cadillac has announced that its 2016 lineup will feature enhanced connectivity and control, including the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new Apple and Android systems are part of the enhancements to Cadillac’s CUE infotainment system, which will now be faster.
Not every 2016 Cadillac will get the 8-inch CUE touchscreen system, since the 2016 SRX will be left off the list. Cadillac has announced that successor to the SRX, which be dubbed the XT5 will arrive in early 2016. The XT5 will get the new CUE system with Apple CarPlay. The Apple CarPlay system will be available starting this summer on 2016 models, while Android Auto is expected to be phased into 2016 production at a later date.
Besides the new Apple and Android systems, the CUE system is getting a more powerful processor, enabling faster system start-up, voice recognition, navigation searches, and media playing. For the navigation system, the control structure has been simplified for easier destination entry and quicker destination searches. Lastly the Escalade, CTS and XTS models will get Surround Vision, a 360-degree view of the vehicle’s perimeter.
