Cadillac has revealed the 2016 CTS-V, which now holds the title of Cadillac’s most powerful model ever with its 640 horsepower engine under the hood.
The 2016 CTS-V is powered by a supercharged 6.2L V8 with 640 horsepower and 630 lb-ft. of torque that is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The LT4 V8 is the same engine that powers the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, which helps the CTS-V out power its main competitors, the 575-hp BMW M5 and 577-hp Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.

The CTS-V’s structure has been optimized to be able to control all that power. Strut tower braces, V-braces for the engine, rear cradle-to-rocker braces and bar-to-bumper braces bolster the structural stiffness by 25 percent over non-V models, for more precise handling and steering.

The Magnetic Ride Control system features four driver-selectable settings – Tour, Sport, Track and Snow. Performance Traction Management is offered in Track mode and features five settings of torque reduction and brake intervention for track driving.
