VW has announced the pricing for the all-new 2012 VW Beetle, that starts at $19,765. The 2012 VW Beetle is set to go on sale in October.
The base 2012 VW Beetle is powered by a 170-hp 2.5L five-cylinder engine that is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The base Beetle comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels and an eight-speaker audio system.
The more desirable 2012 VW Beetle 2.0L TSI with the same 200-hp 2.0L turbocharged 4-cyl as the GTI starts at $24,165. THe turbocharged Beetle comes standard with Bluetooth, 18-inch alloy wheels, bigger brakes and a rear spoiler.
VW is going to release a diesel powered Beetle with around 40 mpg highway, but pricing has not been announced.
At under $20,000 and with a body and chassis that aim to be sportier, is the 2012 VW Beetle going to finally be more competitive with models like the Mini Cooper? If you still want more, VW is reportedly working on an R version of the Beetle.
