VW may put its new Bentley and Lamborghini SUVs on hold, according to information from company sources. The growing Europe economic crisis is largely to blame for the delay of the two SUVs, which have yet to receive the official green light from VW.
Both Bentley and Lamborghini unveiled over the top SUVs at the Geneva and Beijing Motor Shows this year. The production versions of the Bentley EXP 9 F SUV and the Lamborghini Urus are seen as a way for both brands to boost their profitability. Even though both brands would love to replicate the success that Porsche has had with the Cayenne, their lofty price tags and tough competition could hinder their sales, according to to research firm IHS Automotive.
IHS analyst Henner Lehne, told Automotive News, “It’ll be tough to turn the models into sustainable business cases.” .
Even though no official decision has been made both Bentley and Lamborghini are pushing VW to give the green light.
