VW has unveiled the GTI Roadster concept at the annual GTI festival in Wörthersee, Austria. Last week VW gave us a preview of the roadster with the GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo concept, which is going to debut in the Gran Turismo 6 video game in mid-June.
The GTI Roadster concept is powered by a 3.0L V6 twin-turbocharged TSI engine with 503 horsepower and 413 lb-ft. of torque. The V6 is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. The lightweight, 3133-pound GTI Roadster sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 192 mph.
“When Sony asked us if we would develop a Vision GTI vehicle exclusively for the game to mark the 15th anniversary of Gran Turismo we didn’t hesitate for a moment,” stated Klaus Bischoff, Head of Design at Volkswagen.
Of course the thoughts of a GTI roadster may seem like a dream for some GTI fans, but unfortunately there aren’t any plans to produce it.
