VW wants to connect its future vehicles to the cloud, so it’s announced a new partnership with Microsoft to develop the “Volkswagen Automotive Cloud”, which will use Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform.

VW estimates that starting after 2020 it will sell more than 5 million new vehicles per year that will be part of the Internet of Things (IoT) in the cloud. VW says that the Volkswagen Automotive Cloud will improve the interconnection of vehicle, cloud-based platform and customer-centric services.
