Volkswagen has reportedly trademarked the I.D. Cruiser and I.D. Freeler names, which could be used for its new electric models. VW has already confirmed plans to introduce several electric models within the next five years and the newest trademarked names could be used for a new sedan and a new SUV.
At this point it’s not known if the I.D. Cruiser and I.D. Freeler names will be used and if they will be used for the electric sedan and SUV that we’ve yet to officially hear about. As of right now VW has only confirmed the electric hatchback, a compact SUV based on the I.D. Crozz concept and the Microbus-inspired I.D. Buzz. Leaked documents have shown that VW is working on at least two other electric models, but the documents used the AEROe and Lounge names.
Another trademark for the I.D. Streetmate name was also uncovered back in September.
