Volkswagen has unveiled another version of the Golf Variant – the Golf GTD Variant, which is basically a wagon version of the diesel-powered Golf GTD hatchback. In Europe the Golf GTD Variant will go head-to-head with models like the Peugeot 308 SW GT and looks sportier than the standard Golf Variant thanks to its GTD-specific bumpers, grille, 17-inch alloy wheels and chrome exhaust.
The Golf GTD Variant is powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder TDI turbodiesel engine that generates 181 horsepower and 280 lb-ft. of torque. The four-cylinder can be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or six-speed dual-clutch DSG. It reaches 0-62 mph in 7.9 seconds and is rated at 53 mpg on the European cycle.
