GM recently took the 2012 Chevy Corvette Z06 to the famed Nürburgring in which the Corvette managed to complete a lap in only 7:22.68, which was 20 seconds faster than the old record. 
Corvette engineer Jim Mero was behind wheel and posted a time that was just 3 seconds off the record-setting time Mero recently recorded in the 2012 ZR1.
The 2012 Corvette Z06 gets improvements like the addition of “competition-oriented” Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Zero Pressure tires. The tires are matched with all-new aluminum Cup-style wheels in satin black or machined finishes.
