Earlier this month a report claimed that the 2021 Mazda3 is getting a new turbocharged engine. Mazda at the time did not confirm the reports, but now it looks like it has and we’ll get to see it next month.

Mazda recently posted a teaser video on YouTube “Prepare for Launch”, but it doesn’t really reveal much other than a date, July 8, 2020. Well normally we wouldn’t have any idea what the teaser is for, but it looks like Mazda has confirmed that it’s for the turbocharged 2021 Mazda3 on Twitter.

We can thank Autoblog’s Joel Stocksdale for this:

It’s expected that the 2021 Mazda3 sedan and hatchback will be available with the same 2.5-liter turbocharged engine as the Mazda6, CX-5 and CX-9, which generates up to 250 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The turbocharged engine is also reportedly only going to be available with all-wheel drive and an automatic transmission.

We’ll have all the details about the 2021 Mazda3 turbo on July 8.
