Toyota is unveiling its newest concept, the Toyota FT-4X concept at this week’s New York Auto Show, which could be the perfect SUV for millennials. The original teaser photo pretty much gave away that this concept would be an aggressive SUV, but what we have here is something that could be the love child of the old FJ Cruiser and new CH-R crossover had a kid.

It’s styling is aggressive and unique just like the FJ Cruiser, but under that quirky styling, the FT-4X is based on the same TNGA platform as the CH-R. It’s even about the same size as the CH-R. It’s boxy styling also brings to mind other boxy models, like the Kia Soul and Jeep Renegade.

Sadly Toyota has no plans to build the concept, which is unfortunate, since Toyota still needs to add some fun to its lineup, now that Scion is long gone. According to Toyota, the FT-4X is a “a charming ubiquitous tactility of grips, handles, and controls.” The rear hatch can even open vertically or split into two doors depending on which mode you choose: Outdoor or Urban.

The interior is just as unique as the exterior with its vertical glass window set into the C pillar, an integrated GoPro camera and a sleeping bag that stows between the front seats. The sleeping bag also doubles as an armrest.

With Ford bringing back the iconic Bronco and a new Jeep Wrangler just around the corner, maybe Toyota should think about introducing another fun SUV.
