Toyota Tundra Named Motor Trend's 2008 Truck of the Year

Motor Trend has given the Toyota Tundra its 2008 Truck of the Year award today.

The Tundra which was all-new for the 2007 model year beat out the Chevy Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD and Ford’s F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty trucks.

According to the editors the Tundra scored top marks in the areas of “superiority”, “value”, and “significance”. Do you agree considering the number of recalls the Tundra has had in the last year? (The most recent recall involves 15,600 Tundras due to a driveshaft issue) The Tundra also only managed to get a four-star crash safety rating from NHTSA when every other full-size truck has received five-stars.

Toyota has set a goal of selling 200,000 Tundra’s this year. You can expect this award to be used in all future marketing attempts.

The new Tundra is much better than the model that it replaced, but did Motor Trend drop the ball on this one or does the Tundra truely deserve the award?
