Toyota currently badges its plug-in hybrid models with the “Prime” name, but that is gone for the 2025 model year. Toyota has announced that both the RAV4 Prime and Prius Prime will now just be called the RAV4 plug-in hybrid and the Prius plug-in hybrid.
Toyota says that the change to the plug-in hybrid name “is intended to help consumers more easily identify the powertrain choices.”
Both the 2025 RAV4 plug-in hybrid and Prius plug-in hybrid move into the new model year without any big changes. On the RAV4 plug-in hybrid Toyota has decided to remove the blue Toyota logo on the front and rear of the SUV. The RAV4 plug-in hybrid has a 42 mile electric range, while the Prius plug-in hybrid can travel up to 44 miles in electric mode.
