Toyota is going to continue with its plans to create a Prius family with new Prius-based models in spring 2011 with the launch of a new wagon and minivan that will use the nickel hydride battery launched in the CT200h. The wagon and MPV will be followed up by a Prius coupe that will compete with the Honda CR-Z.

The models will all be powered by Toyota’s 1.8L VVT-i hybrid system as it will soon be Toyota’s core hybrid powertrain. There are also rumors that Toyota will launch a hybrid sports car, which will be a rear-wheel-drive plug-in based on the next-gen Lexus IS. It will be badged as a Toyota.

In Spring 2012 a hybrid RAV4 is also expected as Toyota plans to add hybrid variants to all of its models.
