The news comes to us from Road & Track who did a little digging to find out if the four-cylinder is going to be offered in the 2019 Supra. After scouring through some documents from ZF, the company that is in charge of producing the Supra’s eight-speed automatic transmission, Road & Track found what it was looking for. The documents reveal that the Supra will be offered with a BMW sourced 2.0L four-cylinder with 262 horsepower.

While the ZF’s documents do state that the Supra will get a four-cylinder option, Road & Track went a step further by asking the Supra’s chief engineer, Testsuya Tada at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. A prototype of the Supra debuted at the festival and Tada also confirmed to the publication that the Supra will be offered with both four and six-cylinder engines.

Now that we know for sure that the new Supra will be offered with a four-cylinder engine, we’ll have to wait and see how much cheaper it is compared to the six-cylinder powered Supra. A recent report claims that the new Supra with the six-cylinder engine will start at $63,500.
