Although the Toyota Camry has held the best selling car title in the US for the last 16 years, that doesn’t mean that it’s immune to the crossover and SUV craze. Sedan sales continue to decline as more buyers flock to crossovers, so Toyota is going to slow production of the Camry next month.

Bloomberg is reporting that Toyota will slow production of the Camry at its Kentucky plant starting next month. The Avalon and Lexus ES are also produced at the same plant and all three sedans will have their production numbers reduced starting in December.

The current Camry is one of the most exciting Camry models that we’ve seen in years, but it isn’t enough to attract buyers. Camry sales were down 6.1 percent this year through October. The Toyota RAV4 is now Toyota’s top selling model in the US and it’s likely to continue to hold that title, since the 2019 RAV4 has been completely redesigned.
