Earlier this year rumors started to circulate that Lincoln will discontinue the Continental in a few years, but now we might have a date – 2020. According to a new report, the Lincoln Continental will be dropped from Lincoln’s lineup after the 2020 model year.

2017 Lincoln Continental

Sales of the Lincoln Continental haven’t really taken off since it was reintroduced a few years ago and with Ford’s decision to kill off all of its cars, it looks like the Continental is doomed. Jalopnik has reportedly discovered documents that suggest that production of the Lincoln Continental will stop by summer 2019 with the sedan disappearing from dealer lots sometime in 2020.

Sources have revealed that the 2020 Lincoln Continental is still planned, but Ford could easily change its plans. Ford has already produced 90 percent of the 2019 Continental models that it has planned for the 2019 model year and production has started to slow at its Flat Rock Assembly plant.

Even with the latest reports about the demise of the Continental, there was also another report earlier this year that the Continental could revamp the Continental with suicide doors. Lincoln also reportedly confirmed these plans at its annual dealer meeting, where it said that Lincoln remains committed to its car lineup. Stay tuned.
