Tesla hasn’t confirmed it, but a new report claims that the upcoming Tesla Model Y crossover will have three rows of seats, which will help it appeal to families. New leaked documents not only reveal that the Model Y will have an extra row of seats, but that production will ramp up by the end of 2020.
Business Insider is claiming that it received internal documents that reveal more details about the Model Y, which not only reveals a third row of seats, but that production will ramp up by the end of 2020. If the documents are accurate, Tesla hopes to produce 2,000 Model Y crossovers a week by September 2020 and by the end of that year it hopes to produce 7,000 a week at its Gigafactory 1 by the end of 2020.
The documents also reveal that the Model Y will be produced at Tesla’s Gigafactory 3 in China starting in October 2020.
Tesla is expected to reveal the Model Y crossover in March 2019. We already know that the Model Y will be built on the same platform as the Model 3.
