Tesla is getting close to passing the 400 mile range milestone, since it has just announced the new Tesla Model S Long Range Plus version, which has a driving range up to 390 miles. Tesla has also introduced the Model X Long Range Plus, which has a driving range up to 351 miles.

The caveat here is that the driving range for both Long Range Plus versions have not been EPA certified, so the driving ranges are Tesla’s estimates. Tesla hasn’t revealed how it managed to squeeze out a few more miles, compared to the Model S Long Range that has a 373 mile driving range. A software update to unlock the extra driving range is likely.

The Long Range Plus version is now the base trim level for both the Model S and Model X. The Tesla Model S Long Range Plus starts at $81,190, while the Model X version starts at $86,190.
