Even with its supercharging network, it still isn’t as fast to charge a Tesla as it is to put gas in your car. So while you wait for your Tesla to get recharged, Tesla could make it convenient by adding convenience stores at some of its supercharging stations.

If you have to end up waiting 20-30 minutes for your Tesla to recharge, why not make it more comfortable? Tesla’s CTO JB Straubel recently hinted at the idea earlier this week at FSTEC, the food tech conference.

“People are coming and spending 20 to 30 minutes at these stops,” Straubel stated. “They want to eat, they want to have a cup of coffee, they want to use the bathroom.”

Straubel went on to show off mock-ups of Tesla convenience stores, which wouldn’t actually be run by Tesla. Instead Tesla is possibly looking for partners to run the convenience stores. There’s no word yet when the Tesla convenience stores could start popping up.

“We already have been working with restaurants,” he explained. “That can only start scaling up.”
